Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
for He who promised is faithful!
Heb. 10:23

Justin
Hey, my name is Justin. I would like to tell you about the free gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ by whom God saved me. As long as I can remember I grew up in “church.” I attended just about every church function including going to the services every Sunday. By doing these things I thought I was “righteous” in the sight of God. On this basis I believed I would go to heaven, because I believed that I was a “good person”. I believed God existed but I deceived myself by thinking that I was also a believer in Jesus Christ just because I believed God existed. When I was about nineteen, my older brother had been attending a new church. While he was there he began to hear the gospel and God saved him through the hearing of the gospel. He then began to tell me what he had heard.
Not long afterward I had enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. A date was set for me to leave to go to basic training within a couple of weeks. All the while my brother continued to tell me about the gospel. When the time came for me to leave and I went to boot camp, I had remembered everything my brother had said to me. I remember lying in the bed at night and praying to God, ignorant of the fact that God did not listen to me because I still refused, though in a subtle way, to agree with God about who He is. I refused to acknowledge or honor God as God. About a month and a half into boot camp I was discharged for a high allergy to a wasp.
There was nothing I could do to stay enlisted, I had to go home. Now I see that this was the sovereign power of God, drawing me to His Son, Jesus Christ, in order to reveal Himself to me and reconcile me to Himself through Jesus. Within a couple of weeks I was drawn by God to go to this church my brother had been going to. When I went there I had heard something that I have never heard in my life – the holy, true, and powerful word of the living God (the Bible). After the first time I attended there I continued going week after week, and what I heard from the Bible radically changed my life.

Sarah
Many years ago, in my mid-teens, I was given a Bible, with a scripture inscribed on the inside cover, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.", Proverbs 3:5-6. I liked the content of the verse, memorized it, and can truly say that this verse has carried me through many life experiences.
When I was six years old, I prayed and asked God to let me live in the South and 50 years later my prayer was answered. Between that prayer and my actual move to Charlotte, North Carolina, I experienced 2 marriages filled with domestic violence, 2 divorces, and raised my 2 daughters as a single mom. God blessed me with a good job so that I was able to provide a good life for them, and it afforded me the opportunity to retire early and move to Charlotte.
Since coming to Charlotte, six years ago, the Lord has helped me to mature in my Christian walk. I was able to completely forgive those (ex-husband, in-laws, former employers, friends) who had wronged or hindered me in some way in life. I now have extended family and friends who add to my life here. I am still trusting God to repair some relationships. When I needed a job, God blessed me to get a job in customer service, which I have maintained for almost 3 years. My job will end in early 2010 and I am trusting God to direct my paths. I am excited about the next life event that God is preparing for me. Life just keeps getting better and better.
